If you have been following this series then you know about my little DJ Systems site. 

Well, I wanted to give you a little update as to money earned on the site.  It has not been a winfall of money thus far.  Quit frankly it is one of my under achievers at this time.  But on the positive it is making some money.  Just not a lot..

Drumroll Please…  To date the return has been:

eBay - .35 cents

google adsense - $5.35

Wow.. not a lot of money..  To some they may say just give up on the site.  No..  I don’t give up on my site I just keep posting and adding to it till it makes money. 

Also, I am getting traffic on the site.  A lot of it is outside of the United States.  So, since the site is targeted more for the United States I believe this is the reason that I am not getting to many eBay sales.  Something that I will have to work on.

As of today, this site has not indexed very well either so I know that I still have plenty of work to do with it.  I will continue to work on getting it indexed better and see what happens.

As for advertising, I have not done nearly enough.  I have not written not one article for the site nor published anything.  I have not promoted it my gaining more backlinks but it is still getting traffic. 

That said, their is still hope for this site..

What has happened so far with this website?

• Some income has started to trickle in from Google AdSense.  But not enough to get excited.
• I am continuing in adding articles to the site.  The goal is to get appox. 100 to 200 articles.  This should attract the search engines. 
• Some of the pages are indexed and I am getting traffic.  A small portion of traffic.  But most of it is coming from international search sites.  Which in some cases seems to be bad.  I need to match the traffic with the offers.
• I have started to write articles to publish and I have published a few.  But I will need plenty more in the future.
• I have not enough in terms of getting other links.  This is an area of improvement on my part.

So, next up once again is to continue on the marketing by getting links and writing more articles.  If you have look around the site lately you will also noticed that I have added a lot more links from not only CJ.com but amazon and neverblueads.com.  I just brought in neverblueads.com so I want to see how there ads transition.

Teaching Note:  Google is going to have this site in low ranking for at least 6 months.  During this time you will want to get as many links as possible. 

• Start with directories.  There are plenty to choose from but try to find a few that have consistent and high PR for the area that your thinking about getting a link in.
• Next work on forums.  Most forums will allow you to create a link in your signature.  Participate a lot in your area of interest and gain extra links.
• Exchange links with other website - This is time consuming but it can pay off.
• Note:  I ran across a site that create a forum just for links.  The forum catered directly to the niche websites and as the forum caught on the links got larger.  Their was a link from each page on the forum. 
• Go offline - I see a lot of people going offline to advertise their websites.  Although, I have not researched this one very much, I would start with a local advertising agency and see if they can find dead time, spot that could not be sold on TV.  These spots are usually very cheap and reasonable for most people.

Well, if there is anyone that is watching this case study.. I know, no one really cares…  But here is my next post as to how to make $30 dollars per month.  I will probably carry this case study for a while because there are a number of ways to accomplish this.  This is just my first idea.. 

That said, let see what I would need to do next to get to my goal..  So far, I have created the website cheap dj systems and populated the website with I believe that it was 10 articles.  If this was a mini website and I just wanted to create a google campaign and drive traffic this way, I would say that 10 articles is enough.  But, as I have wrote before, I am not a big PPC lover.  I absolutely love FREE search engine traffic.  And the only way to get search engine traffic is to generate content.  So, my next task for this website is to great 100 to 200 pages of content.  Either I buy it, write it myself or search through article directories and republish pre-written articles.  Either way, I have to get to the 100 to 200 articles.

Why 100 or 200 articles.  I have found with any of my websites 100 to 200 is the break even point that the search engine really start to take you seriously.  At first your articles will not rank but, at some point like magic the article start getting noticed and google adsense money start coming in.  Next, you will see spiratic income come in from other sources.  In my case, I am mometizing my websites with google adsense, eBay and amazon.com. 

I will also have to publish the articles that I write in the article directories..  I have stated earlier that I usually only publish my articles in ezinearticles.com and americanchronicle.com.  Both of these directories rank very well in Google and Yahoo serps.. 

Last, I will have to find 5 to 10 link partners.  Publishing the articles will probably take care of this problem.  In the resource box of all my articles are links the direct back to my sites.  As others publish my articles I will get a link back.  These will help but I will also try to find other resources with high PR to bring up the PR on cheap dj systems.

So, this is the plan for the next week or two.  Continue watching and in the next month or two I hope to be making $30 dollars a month from this site.  But that is just the beginning goal…

Guys I have been sucking in getting post up this week.  I am really tired most of the days and I have my little one right in my lap and he takes a lot of energy.  But,  and that is a big but..  I did manage to get the first case study for this system up and running..  Lets take a look at Cheap DJ Systems …  I brought the domain for this sight last monday.

Researching wordtracker I found this information for traffic on this keyword…

Searches is the number of times your keywords have been typed into the search boxes of the engines that Wordtracker gets its data from in the last 100 days.

Predict is the number of times we think that your keywords are typed into all search engines every day worldwide.

So, the keyword looks to have some promise..

Setting up the site:

• I brought hosting on this site from hostgator.com for 11.95 and 8.95 per month.. 

• The site is a hybrid wordpress site the I modified a little to make it look like a regular website…

So, to begin with I am in the whole for this site 11.95 + 9.95 for the domain name..  I went out and found about 10 articles from ezinearticles.com to start this site.  I don’t recommend everyone doing this.  But I found it a lot easier to start a site this way.  If the site really takes off I will start writing my own articles.  I post all ten article with modifing them..

Remember ezinearticles.com is a article directory that you can repost articles from.  You just can’t modify them.

I then set up my plugins..  As I posted before I really enjoy Bayrss, created live rss feeds to eBay on the main page and in all the articles and the other main pages…

I have another plugin were I can offer advertising on the site and I can manage the advertisement myselft without having a middle man.  I am currently reviewing this plugin and if it works out I will sure review it later.

This was a quick and easy site to put up.  As I have posted many times, quick and easy is what you want..  It took me 3 days to put this site together…  But it is not finished.  For any site your goal should be to post 100 to 200 articles.  I am at ten at this present time so for the rest of the month I will be post more articles to hit my goal…

Advertising:

I have not done a lot of advertising for this site thus far.  I have stumbled it and dugg it.. But that traffic usually does not buy or hit any of the google adsense ads..  My next step would be to create a PPC campaign.  But I am not really ready to go this route yet..  What I am going to concentrate on this month is creating articles and posting them to article directories to see if I can hit that $30 dollar mark without so much out of my pocket.  I have already published one article and I hope to get 5 to 10 new article out this coming week..

I have not done a lot of linking to this site yet.  I plan to link from all my other sites and hopefully gain some links from my articles..  I will keep you posted on the linking situation..

Well, that is it.. So far I have earned .59 cents with google adsense.  That came from a click yesturday..  So, I am still in the negative.. 

Check back later to see what I will do next…  And please don’t out and create a website and compete..  If I start see this I won’t be able to do posts like this.  I want to be free and open to pass on my knowledge but I don’t want to be competing with myself…

45n5.com had a pretty good video a couple of days ago that provided ideas on how to make $30 dollars per month.    So, I decided to piggy back on the idea and test out each of the idea.  If you have not seen the video take a look at it now..

So, I suspect that I will be taking this experiment for the rest of the year.  I will document each step with each new idea.  So, come back regularily to see what progress I have made.

I am really excited about this project because there are ideas that I have not done before, but I always wanted to do..  For example, I always wanted to create a small book and sell it on eBay.  I had a few ideas but I have not followed through with the ideas.  This will give me a chance to experiment and see if it could really be done. 

So with experiment will I do first.  If you have any comments or if you have a preference as to which to do first drop me a comment and I will look into it.
