I know that this may be an old subject. But, I found a new alternative to adsense today.

Although, its not new. Matter of fact it has been around for a while. But, aside from that, it is my first time learning about it. The alternative is adbrite and it allows, well you know what is does. Adbrite just like adsense serves contextual ads and banners on websites.

So, I decided to take a look into adbrite and see what others are saying about the system.

All have said that this system is not as good as adsense. The payments are not as good at adsense. Mainly because the ads seem to not match the content served. The adsense payments seems to be 3 times better than adbrite.

That said it is still a alternative to adsense if your not into adsense.

You can drive adbrite with keywords though.

I ran into this question today while looking at the latest news of the day. 

What are some alternatives to Google Adsense? 

If anyone has any better ideas please add to the comments section.  I would love to see how others are making out.

Personally, I don’t know if your going to get anything better than adsense at the moment.  But their are a few alternatives out their that I use.

1. shoppingads.com - If you have a high traffic site this alternative may give you a higher payout than adsense.  One thing, the ads have to be highly visiable like in the top left of articles to have this to work for you.  Also, high traffic sites get a better deal from them.. They evaluate the sites that enter their program and if the site does not produce traffic they will doc the site and only give a return if someone buys something after clicking through their links.  Higher traffic sites will get a click through rate that pays per click.

2. Kontera - I love kontera’s program.  Right now kontera in conjunction with adsense has increase  my return on a few of my sites 2% to 5% depending on the traffic..  Their program is based on the same click model as adsense.  But they don’t provide banners or kontera boxes.  Their code will look at your site and turn keywords into links that redirect to paying customers in thier system.  Their payout is consistant and with the right model you can make a lot of money with them.

These are two of my best alternatives.

And their is alway yahoo..  But their program is a little harder to get involved in.

First off lets give credit were credit is due.

Yesturday, 45n5.com wrote a post about google and getting pages indexed.  Although, I already started testing this technique 45n5.com actually gave me inspiration to write about this.

Now that is done lets get into the content.  Google has given content writers a easy way to get their content indexed in their search engine.  And it does not take much coding to make it happen.  As stated in the google adsense blog http://adsense.blogspot.com/2008/05/adsense-for-search-now-powered-by.html, all content writers have to do is install google search on their websites.  Now, once this is done google will send a spider to index your whole site, granted the spider can get to all the pages on the site.

But what makes this so good is that not only will google handle all of your sites search needs, they will also serve google adsense adds to users of the search.  So, if visitors don’t like the content that your site has and decide to visit another site on the search form you get paid.

This is a win/win proposition.  I like it and I have implemented it on my cheap concert blog as well as a number of other blogs.  Sweet…  And I have actually made some money from this switch..  Even better…

If you have not heard, I hope that you have, eBay has started their own affiliate partners site thus getting rid of commission junction as their affiliate host.  With this kind of change many affiliates have been scrambling to change over their sites to the new eBay affiliate link format.  That said, the BayRSS plugin had to go through a change just like all the rest.   But the developers of BayRSS took their latest build to anothe level.  They didn’t just go about and release a new version that just had the new format, no..  They decided to fold in a few other enhancements that has made all the difference to eBay affiliates across the net.

Search Boxes:

Most new sites or blog utilize search boxes to help visitors to navigate their sites.  But very few have used a searchbox in conjuction with eBay.  At least, I have not seen many people to do it.  Well, why not????  People are just a anxious to find things on eBay as they would on any other site.  So, the developers of BayRSS have created a means of people put live search boxes in blog post that open up to eBay search results that are embedded with eBay affiliate links.

Pageview Enhancement:

The pageview enhancement is meant to be used with the live auction piece of this software.  The live auction piece will list live auctions from eBay but it will only list a specified amount of auctions.  Thus, leaving a majority of search results unseen.  With the pageview enhancement the user can now put up a list of extra pages showing the reader that their are more options to choose from.  These options are also embedded with the posters affiliate id.  Very cool…

Both of these enhancements are sure to improve eBay CPC results…

For the past 3 months I have been trying out a new wordpress plugin called the OIOpublisher that allows you the publisher to sale banner ads, text ads, manage a affiliate program as well as set up a add server for non wordpress sites.  I have been very impressed with the results of this plugin to say the least.  But one main feature that really attracted me to this plugin was that all proceeds would go directly into my pocket.  I am talking about 100% of the proceeds.  Yes, their is no middle man used.  What also impressed me was that I could set this plugin up on all my blog and websites and not have to worry if the ad network was going to approve of the site or not.  Getting approval on a few of my sites has been a great concern, especially for sites that don’t have a very distinct following yet.

But their is one drawback from using this system.  The publisher will have to advertise.  Usually this aspect is handled by the middle man.  I can’t say that I have found an answer for this as of yet.  The only thing that I can say is to make your service a focal point on your website or blog.  In the header make sure you have a tab or menu item that say specifically that you allow for advertising.  If you have a large amount of traffic and you can attract big named advertiser give away 15 to 20 days to allow that advertiser to get acquainted with you traffic and if they are satisfied book them in for the next 30 days at regular prices.  Now lets get into some of the features.

Ad Server - Set up ads in this plugin and through java-scripting add the ad to websites that don’t have a back-end of wordpress.  What a great feature.  The javascript works just like plugin code on a wordpress blog.  That means you can drop in either a text ad and banner ads or both and sale both of these site wide for any website that you would feel would benefit from this feature.  You can also set your own price for each ad per site. 

Google and the <no follow> tag.  If you afraid for Google pinging you site for selling page rank, don’t worry about that with this plugin.  You can set it up so that each link sold automatically has the <no follow> link.  You can also charge a premium to turn off this feature.

Affiliate programs - Do you have a in house affiliate program that you run.  This plugin will can take care or payments and tracking for you affiliate program also.

All of these features and plenty of other features are all automated and does not require any interaction once set up.  Just set everything up in the beginning and let it do its thing.

All payments are real time and are credited to a paypal account that is set up in the plugin in the beginning.

If you or anyone else is serious about selling text links and banner space on a website or blog then this plugin is what you need.  It is powerful enough for a small website that may only get 20 to 30 clicks a day to a blog or website that get 10,000 to 30,000 clicks a day.  It is that powerful.  Learn more about the OIOpublisher..
