Monetizing your website or blog is tricky business. You need to find the right balance between just tacky and functional. Lately, I have been working to accomplish the latter. Just Functional.. I have also been experimenting with paid links. I have found that all are not the same. Even though they are all fairly easy to setup. In this guide to want to introduce you to three text link providers that I have been experimenting with either by buying links or selling links through them.
Buying Links
I have used two of these services to buy links because quit frankly, I am lazy and I don’t like to go out and ask a number of websites will they add my link to them. I am also looking for more one-way links then recipical links. I have found that the one way links are more powerful when it comes to SEO and I can center on websites that are complementary to my website. Buying links is not a hard task. If you have the money it would only take about 15 to 20 min. to find a website that you may want a link from and pay for it.Â
So, I proceeded to buy links from adbrite and text link ads. Although, I was happier with the links that I brought from adbrite in terms of traffic, I got even more prolonged exposure through the search engines using text link ads. Let me explain. Yes, when you buy a link from adbrite the link with eventually go to your website if clicked. But the link is not a direct link to your website. It links to adbrite then is redirected to your website. In terms of SEO you will never get prolonged traffic from this kind of link. The search engines will not give you credit for the backlink. This kind of link basically will not give the points needed in the search engines but will provide traffic. If the website has a significant amount of traffic. Now, if traffic is all that you’re looking for this is OK. But for me I did not want just traffic.
With text link ads.com the links provided link directly to the advertiser’s sites (the site paying for the link). The only downfall is that you can’t see the publisher’s site before you pay. Let me explain. Text link ads.com has a search engine that allows the advertiser to search by page rank, price, traffic or any combination of all. They provide you a list of the sites with no names or web addresses, just the page rank of the site, the price and the alexa traffic index. Once the link to the site is purchased it is possible to see the site where the link will be placed. At this time the advertiser is given a chance to cancel the link within 24 hours after purchasing the link. This was the only linking service website that I have been able to find thus far that links directly to the advertisers website without going through a intermediate website. Which is great for SEO.
Selling Links
Selling links is a different story. I currently sell links through text link ads and adster. I like text link ads because once I installed a provided wordpress plugin I did not have to do anything else except add an description at there website that would attract buyers. Text links Ads sets the prices for me in accordance with the traffic of my site. The more traffic the higher the price for the link.
Adbrite and adster are pretty much the same when it comes to selling links with them. You signup for the services and they provide a widget that is installed on the provider’s site. The provider sets all the prices for the links. Which could be a little tricky, if little traffic is coming to a site what would be a fair price? That is up to you to decide.
Aside from that I would recommend all three when it comes to selling links. Buying links I only recommend text link ads. I am more on the SEO side and I believe the links mean more for search engine serps coming from text link ads.
