Blogging to the Bank and Blogger.com

As you all can see I’ve switch my blog from blogger.com to wordpress.  But it wasn’t because I love wordpress so much, it was mainly because of Blogger.com deleting all of my blogs.  Luckily I was hosting this blog on my own and I was able to pull all the post from my blogger account one by one.  But it wasn’t easy.  I had to pull the blogs entries one by one by hand, coping and pasting, a very painful wakeup call from a service that I put a lot of trust in.
Now, I have to admit that blogging to the band and blogger.com are not a good combination.  Yes, its a great idea of using blogs to promote products but putting your livelihood in a free service that you have no control over is definitely a mistake.  So, if your using the blogging to the bank system go ahead and invest in a domain that will allow you to have multiple sub domain.  Than create as many blogs on the domains as the hosts allows and move onto domain 2 then 3 then 4 and follow the same information that is provided with the blogging to the bank system.  But don’t put all your eggs into blogger.com.  You are only going to create a recipe for trouble in the long run.  And if they erase all of your blogs you will hate yourself because of all the hard work you put into creating those blogs and all the promotion you put into those blog that you may be discouraged to continue on.

In conclusion, put out a little investment and build the same business described just do it on your own terms

SEO Class Needed

I am always looking for ways to either improve my present websites or improve my present knowledge in marketing.  Well, just evaluating my present knowledge I have come to the conclusion that I have a need to improve my marketing marketing skills.  I especially need to improve this area if I hope to stay in the affiliate marketing business long term.  As a result I did a few searches around the net to find classes that dealt with this subject.

One such search yeilded me a SEO class held by the HTML Writer Guild.  They have a number of classes on any and every subject dealing with website development you can think of.  And wouldn’t you know it, the class is starting in a few days.  I am planning to enroll today.  You know that is the good thing about this business.  Their is always something new to learn and master.  But once you master the skill it can’t but increase your income in the long run.

Commission Junction Introduces a New Link Management Initiative

On May 30th Commission Junction announced their new link management initiative and many affiliates are in an uproar. Most are upset because the initiative sounds as if they will make all affiliates change their static links and all thier sites to Java Script links. And for affiliates that have created thousands of links over the years this would be a absolute nightmare. But, it is unclear if CJ will make affiliates do this because they have not given the full details to there Link Management Initiative. Here are the three areas of change that CJ has annouced.

1. Javascript links – CJ has stated that with the introduction of Javascript links links will be more flexible and allow for robust capabilities to promote ads. But their is some light at the end of the tunnel for static links. Because CJ has state and I quote “JavaScript links will be your default link type for all new relationships” this leads me to believe that their will be Javascript links and static links to pick from.
2. Search engine marketers are not going to like this one. CJ has stated “If you are doing search marketing, you will now only be able to get links for use in search marketing from the Keyword Link area in the CJ Account Manager™ (Get Links >> View Links >> Keyword Link), and only if you have designated search engine marketing as your promotional method. ” This means that when you sign up for a CJ account you have to state the way your going to promote a link as a search engine marketer or as a website owner, or maybe both. Anyway, you will only get to use keyword links from the advertiser if your a search engine marketer.
3. Now this is a great improvement. If you would like to embed links into e-mails, you can convert any link into an E-mail Link in the “Get HTML” page of your selected link. I like this maybe able to use this feature for more than email links.

All in all it doesn’t sound like their is a need to have a uproar and leave CJ. Personally, I love CJ and all their features and I would be will to do what I needed to do to stay with the company. What do you think.. Leave your comments in my comments section.

Learning Video Marketing – First Video

I have found myself drawn into the video marketing realm. Something that I have been looking into for a while now but just did not put a lot of time into it.

Now, that I am trying to put some time into it I am finding that there are some very serious problems that I have to overcome. Well, they are not that serious, but I just don’t have any idea of how to make them happen.

1st problem: Get a camera….

I decided on the Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG9. It is a pretty good camera. It fits in your pocket and it is easy to carry around. The picture quality is good and it is able to take a SD chip to capture a large amount of data. It also comes with a rechargeable battery for long battery life. It is able to take still pictures and video.

2nd Problem:

I don’t know how to edit the videos. How to put wording in the videos or even change the background.

I have searched around the net but I have yet to find anything that can help me with this. I thought I solved this problem by purchasing Nero 8. But the software just does not seem to want to cooperate with me. So, I am still looking for something else. If anyone has any suggestions my ears are wide open.

Other than these two problems I am on with Video Marketing.

Hope to see everyone soon..

Video Marketing – Getting Started

First of all I want to give a shout out to online video toolkit for all the hard work that he did. If it was not for this website, I would not have gotten as far as I have thus far with this venture.

Not that I have gotten to far, but just the few tips that I have gained from that website have saved me so much time it is impossible to relay in this message.

Anyways, I am back with an update to my venture into video marketing. Thus far I have:

  1. Purchases a camera
  2. Done my first video and put it up on youtube.com
  3. signed up for online video toolkit
  4. Downloaded Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8
  5. Made my second video and added my web address to the video
  6. Uploaded second video to youtube

To some this may have sound elementary and to some it is but just to get to this point took a month in the making.

Finding a camera was a weeks worth of time in itself. Mainly, because I did not just want to get any camera. I wanted one that would last me for a year or two. I think I made the right choice with the Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG9.

If you read my last post concerning video marketing, you know that I also had a problem with video editing. Mainly, I could not find a software package that would allow me to put text on the videos that I published. Well, problem solved. Enter Sony Vegas Movie Studio. If you have not tried it you should be pleasantly surprised.

So, now I am up and running and I hope that the next video will have some meaningful information to help everyone out. Till then.. Talk with you later…

Adding Google Search To A WordPress Blog Tutorial

Today I wanted to touch on a adding Google search to a wordpress blog. This may take a little skill with php. So, if your not comfortable with that please have someone you trust to complete this tutorial.

Some may ask why would anyone want to do this. Well, I can think of one very important reason. When Google search is installed on a website will index all of the sites pages. This was stated on the Google Adense blog a number of weeks ago. To me that is the most important reason. Another great reason is that it is just another way to monetize a website.

Google’s search results are embedded into your website. When a visitor types in a search term Google Adsense results are returned with the search term results. This just give you another chance to gain income if the visitor does not find what he/she is looking for.

Getting Started

Google MenuGetting started is pretty easy. First lets get on over to Google Adsense. If you don’t have a Google account then you will want to sign up for the program. In the top right corner you will see a button that states “Sign Up Now!!”. Click this button and go through the signup process. It will probably take a day or two to get a response back as to if you have been accepted into the program.

Once you have your login information go the the homepage of Google Adsense and log in. Once logged in look at the top of the page at the top menu. Select Adsense Setup to start the Google Search Wizard. Once the page has loaded up go to the middle of the page and select Adsense for Search.

Once selected you will be put into a wizard with 8 options for configuring the code you will receive at the end of the wizard.

Lets Begin:

Search Type – Choose what information you want to return back in the search results. Do you want the search results to have just your website pages you selected or the entire web. I always pick the sites I selected.

Selected Sites – Here you will put the domain address of the site or sites that you would like the search result to show. The sites that you select in this box will only show up in the search results along with the adsense results.

Optional keyword – If you have optional keywords that you would like Google search to find add them here.

Site Language – If you have a site that is in anything other than English then provide the language of the site here.

Your Site Decoding – Leave this as the default

Country or Territory for Google Domain – Specify the Google search engine you want the results to come from. For example if you have a UK site you would want the results to come from Google UK.

Custom Channel – I like to track were I get Adsense dollars from. This option allows you to put in a special code that will come up in the Adsense results if Google Adsense money is rewarded.

Safe Search – Safe Search is so porn is not a search result. I always leave this on.

OK.. Now you should be finished with the first page of the wizard. Now, hit continue to go to the next page.

Next it is time to select the search box. Google gives a lot of options on the page so choose a search box that will work for your individual website and get continue.

Now, here is the tricky part. It is time to go into wordpress and create a page for the search results.

So.. Log into wordpress and at the top hit the Write tab and select the Write Page

Wordpress page

In the “Title” type in a meaning full name. For example in most of my blogs I type in “searchit” and create the page. You will have to come back to this page later in the tutorial so keep it handy.

Now you have the web address to enter into the Google Wizard. For this example it would be: http://www.marketassociate.com/searchit. Take this web address and enter it in the spot below..

Google Address

Next configure the ad location. Since I use wordpress and I don’t have a lot of room in my template I always choose the top and bottom option.

Finally, configure the colors to fit your website and select continue at the bottom of the page.

It is time to get the code that will be put onto your wordpress blog. Now submit and get code.

You will now get two segments of code. The bottom segment is for the “searchit” page you created earlier.

Wordpress page

Go back into wordpress and bring back up the searchit page. Hit the html tab and paste the Google code segment into the page. You may have to change some settings in the Google adsense code segment to fit your template.

<div id=”cse-search-results”></div>
<script type=”text/javascript”>
var googleSearchIframeName = “cse-search-results”;
var googleSearchFormName = “cse-search-box”;
var googleSearchFrameWidth = 800 400;
var googleSearchDomain = “www.google.com”;
var googleSearchPath = “/cse”;
</script>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://www.google.com/afsonline/show_afs_search.js”></script>

Once done save and publish page.

The next step you will have to know a little php to complete. Because you will be changing the template code of your sight. If you are not comfortable doing this have someone who you trust finish this part of the tutorial.

Take the top code from the Google wizard and replace the search bar code on your site. In my case I replaced

<form method=”get” id=”searchform” action=”<?php bloginfo(’home’); ?>”><input type=”text” class=”textbox” value=”<?php echo wp_specialchars($s, 1); ?>” name=”s” id=”s” /><input type=”submit” id=”searchsubmit” value=”Search” />
</form>

With

<form action=”http://www.cheap-leotards.com/searchit” id=”cse-search-box”>
<div>
<input type=”hidden” name=”cx” value=”partner-pub-7592355743918011:r08qwt4k27p” />
<input type=”hidden” name=”cof” value=”FORID:11″ />
<input type=”hidden” name=”ie” value=”ISO-8859-1″ />
<input type=”text” name=”q” size=”31″ />
<input type=”submit” name=”sa” value=”Search” />
</div>
</form>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://www.google.com/coop/cse/brand?form=cse-search-box?=en”></script>

on one of my sites.

And that is it. You may have to play with some color or sizes to make everything look exactly the way you want it. But after that Google takes over and provides all the results that are needed.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Please visit often for more exciting information….

3 Tips To Achieve Greater Success With Google AdWords

PPC Driving traffic to your website is one of the most important activities that you can do as the owner of an online business. Without traffic, you are guaranteed not to get any sales. Therefore, no matter what your business model is, traffic is the first thing to be concerned about. In this article, we will focus on Google AdWords pay per click (PPC) advertising which is a way for you to get targeted traffic to your website. For the uninitiated, however, there are many pitfalls that await.

The first tip has to do with proper structuring of your ad campaign. When you create a new ad campaign, it is better to create a number of smaller ad groups within that campaign. One of the big mistakes that newcomers to AdWords make is creating a single ad group and filling it up with hundreds if not thousands of keywords. It is far better to come up with a few different categories that describe your business and focus on creating groups of tightly related keywords for each group.

Secondly, learn how to write an ad that will draw the readers’ attention and get them to click on it. With the limited number of characters allowed for the ad copy, one of the best ways to come up with attention grabbing copy is to learn from the classified ads in newspapers and magazines. Browse through the classifieds and take note of any ad that really captures your attention and ask yourself what makes it work. When you write ads that get more clicks, you will increase your click through ratio (CTR) and as a result you could lower the minimum bid that you pay for each click.

The third tip has to do with testing and tracking your ads. Be sure to create multiple ads and rotate them evenly to test which ones result in the best CTR. You will need to run the test so that each ad gets at least 50 or so clicks. Otherwise, the test will be invalid if you base your decision on just a few clicks. When you set up your campaign initially, be sure to select the option to rotate your ads evenly because the default option is to allow the system to automatically optimize showing your best ad more often. If this is the case, you will not be able to run an accurate split test.

There is a steep learning curve for becoming proficient at Google AdWords. If you do not give up, however, and master the system, you will be rewarded with targeted traffic to your website.

Building a Business Selling Other People’s Stuff

Do you want to work online? Do you want to build your own business? Do you have a dream of working for yourself, from home, where you could work as many or as few hours as you like and still make a good living?

A lot of people have that dream too, but what’s the best way to make it come true?

Chances are when you start on this journey, you’ll end up joining some get-rich-quick schemes and multi-level marketing programs; but you’ll soon realize that only a select few make money this way, and unfortunately the odds are against you.

However, there are in fact many multi-millionaires being made online.

Most of them are selling their own products they’ve developed; but nearly all of them are also selling products as affiliates.

What does that mean? Selling as an affiliate means working as a commissioned salesperson, or making money selling other people’s stuff!

While the product owner takes care of billing, customer service, refund requests, tech support and so forth, the affiliate just recommends the product to others, and gets a hefty sales commission for doing so… which can often be as high as 50-75%, and sometimes even 100%, for digital downloadable products.

Why would a product owner offer such high commissions? They do it because 25-50% of your sales, and every other affiliate’s sales, add up to a lot more than 100% of their own sales. In other words, they wouldn’t be selling those products at all without you.

Why would anyone offer 100% commissions? Because they want to give you a good reason to promote their product (usually at a fairly low price point so they don’t mind giving up the sales money) in exchange for building their list of opt-in subscribers. Everyone who pays you the 100% commission for the product also ends up signing up with the product owner to download it, so it’s a win-win scenario.

Now here’s the biggest question: how do you get people to buy products through your affiliate link when it seems everybody online is promoting the same thing?

There are numerous ways to get the attention of a customer, which leads them to buy through you.

1. Pay per Click Direct-to-Merchant

Many people are making great money online by purchasing clicks from Google AdWords or other pay per click search engines, and sending that traffic directly to the product owner’s sales page through their affiliate link. This can be very profitable if done right. The main drawback is that only a couple of people can use the same domain name when promoting through AdWords, so rather than using your affiliate link as it is, you should create a redirect link. The other drawback is that the traffic you have purchased may be interested in other products you’re promoting, but you don’t have contact with those people once they’ve clicked through to the sales page, so that’s a lost sales opportunity.

2. Pay per Click to a Landing Page

This method uses the same type of pay per click advertising, but sends people to your own landing page first. You can offer a review of the product or some other type of unique content, before offering the visitor your affiliate link to click on if they like your review. Again, once the people click through to the sales page, you won’t be able to contact them anymore.

3. Combination of Pay per Click and List-Building

This method is very similar to #2, sending people to your own landing page first. However, the idea is to have them opt in to your newsletter list before they get to see your review or the sales page. Once someone is on your list, you’ll be able to send him or her related offers down the road. But be careful that your landing page is not just a “squeeze page” with an opt-in form and no content, which goes against Google’s AdWords regulations.

4. Combination of SEO and List-Building

If you don’t want to pay for traffic or worry about operating within Google’s pay per click terms, you can go the natural search way and build traffic through SEO, which stands for Search Engine Optimization. This takes a different resource – your time — in order to properly optimize your page. You will also want to research how to do it the most effectively. However, many super affiliates are to the point where all their traffic comes naturally from the search engines, and they get thousands of visitors a day.

To combine SEO with list building, you would once again offer an opt-in form to the visitor so that you can keep contact with them. Otherwise you’re letting them leave as easily as they came, which is a waste of your SEO efforts.

As you can see, there are numerous ways to get traffic to your sites and build your affiliate marketing business. If you choose an option that involves opt-in list building, then you’ll also have a growing list of subscribers who know, like and trust you, and will buy much of what you recommend.

Another way to stand out is to offer a bonus or rebate that nobody else offers. You’ll make less on each transaction if it’s a cash rebate, but not everyone will cash in on your offer, and you’ll also have more sales overall.

With a little ingenuity and effort, you can be a super affiliate in no time.

Beyond Split Testing

Many new internet marketers are happy to simply generate traffic to their offers. However, it doesn’t take long before they realize that conversion rate is a more important measure, particularly if they are paying for traffic. Some give up at an early stage. However, others begin to recognize the need for testing.

One of the most powerful forms of testing is split testing. This allows you to compare different parts of your campaign. The simplest form is A/B testing where two different components are compared. This could be two different landing pages, two different ads or more simply two different headlines. Some systems have in-built split testing. For example, if you are advertising using Google Adwords, it is an easy process to compare both the click through and conversion rates of different ads. After a certain number of clicks it becomes obvious which ad is the better performer. The other ad is dropped and replaced with another one to test and the process is repeated. Over time, this results in having an ad which generates not only more clicks but more sales. More advanced marketers make use of split testing techniques, such as Taguchi testing, that compare multiple variables at one time.

By those in the know, split testing is a given. However, this is not the only type of testing that can increase the bottom line. Pay per click advertisers can use hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of keywords in a campaign. Some of these keywords will provide a good return on investment. However, many of them will be a drain on the advertising budget. While attracting clicks they may result in few, if any, sales. This can turn a potentially successfully campaign into a failure. The novice marketer pulls the campaign because it is costing money, not knowing that by tracking the conversion rate of individual keywords it could easily be turned into an on-going source of passive income.

An additional twist is to measure the average amount of time visitors spend on a site for each individual keyword. This gives information relating to the AIDA principle, which suggests that potential customers go through stages of Attention, Interest, Desire, and finally Action. The theory is that the longer a visitor stays reading a sales page the further along this process they are. Those keywords which result in visitors staying longer on the landing page are more likely to be winners. In this way, poor performing keywords can be identified quickly without having to spend a fortune waiting for a large number of actions such as sales.

Those who can use testing successfully are much more likely to be successful financially. Aspiring marketers should look not only to split testing, but other forms of analysis on which to base decisions.
