Promoting a Brand New Blog

Even though I don’t consider this a brand new blog, I still consider it a new effort on my part.  Yes, this blog has been around for at least 2 years but as I stated in earlier post I have not added much content to it in those 2 years, nor did I have much of a focus.  Now that I have a little focus (still go off the deep end sometimes), I have found that I need to start from scratch in finding new traffic for this site.  So, to keep you up to speed on my latest traffic generation efforts I thought I update you with what I did today.

Participated in forums - Today I delivered one of my articles that I have posted on this site to two forums, associateprograms and digital point.  Both are great forums with huge user base.  I have been on both for a while and I have personally learned a lot from both.

Have your website critiqued - I also offered this website to get critiqued by other website owners.  My hope is gain a few more subscribers to my rss feed as well as my email newsletter list.

How to use this technique?

1. Write Articles - Writing articles will provide a how to or inspiration on the subject that you are an expert on.  That is what you want to establish yourself as, an expert.  Article writing provides this benifit and also will drive traffic to your site because people will be interested in other ideas that you may have.
2. Pose Questions and Polls - Posing questions draws people to a thought process and brings about interest in a subject.  Once you know what people are interested in and searching for then provide more article material to satify that need. 
3. Answer Questions - Participating and answering questions in forums brings about trust in your product.  Either product or service.  Once someone trust you, then they will be glad to frequent your blog or website.
4. Get your website critiqued - Having your website critiqued is very important and if post has the correct keywords it could also get picked up by the search engines and drive enoumous traffic to your site (I launch every website that I have with this technique).
